Kru John - MMA - Muay Thai - Boxing

Kru John's exposure to mixed martial arts began with wrestling and progressed on to Muay Thai kickboxing. After wrestling at Worcester Poly-Tech, John transfered to Boston College. It was at this point John began his Muay Thai training. 
 

After four years in the US, he traveled to Japan, Brazil and Thailand to continue his training. John then moved to Thailand, where he lived and trained for another three and a half years along side some of Thailand and the world's toughest fighters. Making Muay Thai his life, and visiting some 20 training camps from Loas to Thailand, John exposed himself to both very well known as well as obscure boxing camps and each of their techniques. Kru John is a certified conservator and instructor of Muay Thai under the Thai government by the World Muay Thai Federation of Thailand.  

 

Professor Carlos Neto - Jiu Jitsu - MMA

Carlos has been taught, trained and competed with some of the best Jiu Jitsu practitioners in the World. He received his Black Belt in 2001 from Jefferson Oliveira. For several years he trained with the world famous Brazilian Top Team in Rio De Janeiro. He also is a Multiple NAGA Open Weight Division Champion and recently placed 2nd in the Pan American No Gi Championship held in New York City.

2007 - NAGA World Championship - Second Place - no Gi

 

Kru Mark Klemm - Muay Thai 

Kru Mark is a belted Muay Thai champion that has trained and competed in both the US and Thailand. He began his training in the US at Wai kru in Boston, then began training overseas and still makes annual trips to Thailand. He has traveled throughout the country training at top Muay Thai camps including Por Pramuk, 13 Coins, Chaiya, Fairtex, and Sinbi.
 
Whether he is working with beginners or prefessional competitors, Kru Mark uses his extensive ring experience to help teach each student effective techniques in Muay Thai. Kru Mark is a certified conservator and instructor of Muay Thai under the Thai government by the World Muay Thai Federation of Thailand. 
 
Prior to focusing his life on Muay Thai, Kru Mark served in the United States Navy and is a veteran of operation Iraqi Freedom and operation Enduring Freedom.  

 

Professor Renan Borges - Jiu Jitsu

Originally from Corumba, Brazil, Renan began training Jiu Jitsu in 2002 at Academia Iron with Manuel Joao and Taedes Mondonca. While living in Brazil, he regularly took part in competitions all over the country. Renan won multiple tournaments while a blue belt and purple belt such as the World Championships, the Brazilian Cup, and a myriad of state championships.
 
In 2007 Renan moved to Boston and received his black belt in 2008. He has since added some more notable victories to his already impressive competitor resume including:
 
2010 - NAGA New England - First Place - no Gi
2010 - Grapplers Quest UFC Expo - Second Place - Gi
2009 - New York International Open - First Place - Gi
2008 - Massachusetts State BJJ Federation - First Place - Both Gi and no Gi
2008 - Pan American Jiu Jitsu Championship - First Place - no Gi 

 

Kru Mark Massey - Muay Thai - Boxing 

Mark began his training in Boxing at an early age under his father and uncle , the 1966 Navy Boxing champlion. He has competed in many city and state competitions. Soon after Mark turned his passion towards Martial Arts and earned 1st Dan in Shotokan Karate under Shihan Mike Hollonsworth. He studied Kempo Karate under Master Ron Gately and recieved his Shodan 2nd degree under Master Cal Cozzi. Mark has trained extensively in Savate, Silat, Arnis and Filipino Martial Arts under Shihan Bob Moran. He is a certified Personal Trainer with over 17 years of experience and has made Muay Thai his dedicated focus for the last several years.  

 

Kru John Whitehead - Muay Thai - K1 Kickboxing

John began studying Muay Thai at the age of 18 and started competing professionally in 2004 in Japan. He won the 87th Shin Karate Full Contact Championships for the Heavyweight Division (K-1's ProAm organization) and was ranked in the Top 8 for the organization in Japan in 2005. His professional record is 5 wins and 1 loss, 3 KOs.
 
After moving to Boston in 2006, John has been associated with WaiKru through training, coaching, and assisting with the WaiKru's growth in the region. He also holds a black belts in Shidokan Karate and from the Japan Karate Federation, and has trained in China and Thailand. John enjoys working with everyone from UFC fighters to 1st day beginners. His coaching expertise is in striking, technique, and fitness. Professionally, John works in the international development field and speaks fluent Chinese (Mandarin) and Japanese. He is currently a graduate student at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University focusing on international finance and development economics.
